Our History
Did you know that the late Vernell Bowman-Bruce worked at the Freedmen's Hospital which opened in 1862 as the first of its kind to serve former slaves. It is also were Charles Drew famously discovered a new way to process blood plasma allowing for lifesaving transfusions. This hospital is known today as Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC.
